Viburnum plicatum 'PIIVIB-II' Opening Day (Japanese Snowball)
With perfectly round baseball-size flowers in April, we couldn't resist the beacon of Spring Opening Day. This shrub is covered with snowball like flowers that open with a tinge of green and quickly mature to pure white. Plants are tight in habit with dark green, corrugated foliage that turns beautiful shades of Cabernet red in autumn.
Foliage: Dark green, corrugated foliage that turns to deep, rich reds in autumn.
Flowers: Masses of huge, pompom like flowers in spring. 7.5cm across, that emerge with a greenish tinge before quicky maturing to pure white.
Culture: Quite adaptable and low maintenance. Requires moist well-drained soil in a position receiving dappled light when grown in warmer regions. Requires very little pruning. If required, prune immediately after flowering.
Size: grows to 1.5m x 1.5m.
