Hippeastrum x hybridum
Double Hippeastrums have large blooms layered with petals. Double Amarantia sports 2-5 gorgeous, deep-red blooms per stem. A showstopper in the garden, in pots or as a cut flower
How To Grow
Prepare the soil by adding organic matter and compost. Plant in a moist well drained soil, protected from wind but with plenty of sunlight. Leave neck of bulb protruding above the soil and side water weekly during dry spells as Hippeastrums don’t like overhead watering. Spray lightly with fungicide and protect from snails and slugs. For Christmas flowering, keep bulbs in the crisper section of your refrigerator until mid November
