The red flowering gum grows 2m after 10 years and features spectacular Christmas/New Year blooms. Its nectar-rich flowers attract birds and bees. Suitable for home gardens, parks, and street plantings, it needs a sunny spot, tolerates most frosts and soil types, and can even handle coastal locations.
Grafting is used to combine desirable features of palnts with a more robust root system for a healthier, more vigorous and longer-lived plant. However, these shoots should be removed to avoid overwhelming the superior part of the plant. Cut them off flush with the main stem with a sharp knife of secateurs.
