Beta vulgaris
Beetroot is an excellent root vegetable which stores for months. It is best grown quickly. Harvest when the roots are no bigger than a tennis ball.
Cultivate well drained soil before planting. Mulch well. Water regularly.
Position: Full sun
Height: grows to 30cm
Spacing: plant 15cm apart
Harvest: 8-10 weeks
