Brassica oleracea
Red Cabbage produces medium sized heads adding attractive red/purple colour to salads. Eaten fresh or cooked it is high in vitamins A, B and C. Popular vegetable, high in calcium and iron. Likes fertile, well drained soil, sunny position, frost hardy.
For control of white cabbage butterfly use fine netting or Dipel.
Sow all year except hot conditions.
